Here at Piano Lessons Liverpool we are never more proud than when we hear that one of our piano students has entered the recording studio for the first time. It is a fantastic experience and certainly something for all musicians to aspire to, whether you are recording as a solo classical pianist or as a modern pianist within a band! It can be quite a challenge to find the right recording studio to go to, so to help you along the way we have drawn together a list of what we consider to be the best recording studios Liverpool has to offer. So, in no order...

Sandhills Studios 

Sandhills Studios recently joined forces with the famous Motor Museum in Liverpool, run by up-and-coming producer Al Groves. This renowned studio was key to the launch of the careers of such inspirational musicians as Oasis, Ben Howard, Jake Bugg, The 1975, Tom Odell and The Arctic Monkeys. The studio consists of various recording spaces, including a large live and stone room, and is fully equipped with state of the art rare and vintage backline microphones, and a Protools HD2 Accel rig. The studio is also fully furnished to accommodate for mix projects, with a vintage Neve 8232 Analogue console and a range of top-end outboard. With a great location in the Lark Lane district of South Liverpool, clients are guaranteed successful sessions in this secluded and creative studio.

Parr Street Studios 

This luxurious studio has previously catered for such musical greats as Coldplay, Doves, Barry Manilow, Take That, Elbow, John Mayer, The Spice Girls, The Verve, Diana Ross, New Order, and Paolo Nutini, to name just a few. Having won a Grammy-award for its services, this recording studio is highly popular, and even offers a Hotel and Bar to clients.

Studio 1 contains a vast number of microphones and a selection of outboard, in addition to the Yamaha C3 grand piano, Hammod B3 and EMT 140 plate reverb on offer to recording artists. What is particularly special about this studio is the large live room showered in natural light, the stone room, and amp room with top quality guitar amps.

Not only this, but clients are treated to a lounge and kitchen within the studio, and ease of access to the bar which is a mere 20 yards away. Studio 3 is greatly esteemed as the inspirational environment where Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin wrote the lyrics to "The Scientist" and recorded most of Parachutes, Coldplay's debut album. Musicians will be spoilt for choice with the piano and range of vintage instruments on offer in this studio.

Whitewood Recording Studios 

Whitewood Recording Studio is run by musical experts Robert Whiteley, Daniel Woodward and Jon Hall. This studio offers a relaxed yet professional environment for the recording, mixing, and mastering of all kinds of music. The studio consists of a Control room and a Live room which are fully furnished with a range of microphones (dynamic, condenser and ribbon). It is also equipped with analogue processing which is used to maximise the sound quality, in addition to the brick walls, laminate flooring, and baffles which enhance the range of acoustics in the Live room. This studio charges an hourly rate of £30.

Cross Town Studios 

Cross Town studios first opened for business in 2008, and has been providing a top quality, affordable recording space to local artists ever since. This studio offers recording, mixing, and production services for any genre of music, be the client of a pop singer or a heavy metal band. Clients are sure to be satisfied with the vast range of equipment at their fingertips, with microphones, various guitar and bass amps, a drum kit, and even an organ available during the production process. This business focuses largely on giving opportunities to up-and-coming local bands and reducing the cost for clients, therefore offering an 8 hour day with an engineer on site for just £120.
