The Echo Arena is located in the ACC Liverpool building, ideally situated on the waterfront, in the city centre. With a capacity for 11,000 fans, this venue is the place to go for those who favour the buzzing atmosphere of a roaring crowd. This venue is the perfect place for fans to see their idols, and has showcased internationally famous musicians Beyoncé, Elton John, Kanye West, Kasabian, The Killers, Lady Gaga, Oasis, Pink, and Rihanna. The entire ACC Liverpool cost £164 million to build and was funded by Liverpool City Council, ERDF funding, the NWDA, and English Partnerships.
An additional benefit of this arena is that it is one of the most environmentally friendly venues in Europe, producing half of the CO2 emissions and utilising 20% less electricity than it would without the environmentally friendly measures taken.
You can find this venue at the following address: Echo Arena Liverpool, Kings Dock, Liverpool Waterfront, L3 4FP.
The O2 Academy in Liverpool is run by the Academy Music Group and was launched in 2003 with an electric performance by Liverpudlian group Shack, quickly earning itself a good reputation with the locals. With room for 1,200 excited fans, this venue is on a smaller scale than the afore-mentioned Echo arena. Its' sister building, the O2 Academy 2 Liverpool is even smaller, with a capacity of just 500, and hosts unsigned local musicians, who are given the opportunity to exhibit their talent in a unique and intimate environment. This venue also provides a great space for new bands on national tours. Fans are able to see artists in a close and personal setting.
The venue is conveniently located near the Lime Street train station, and can be found at this address: O2 Academy Liverpool, 11-13 Hotham Street, L3 5UF.
This quirky venue is a big hit with the locals, with regular themed nights and an eclectic range of unique bands on offer (for example, up-and-coming artists Swim Deep, and the Temples). This medium-sized venue can hold 450, and even hosts annual festival, the "Krunk Fiesta" which exhibits 25 acts accross three stages over 12 hours. Also part of this venue is The Kazimier Garden, a hybrid space which entwines natural and urban environments together. Guests can sit beneath canopies and feast whilst performances take place. The arty decor and vibrant atmosphere of The Kazimier is immediately apparent just by visiting the website of the venue. Entertainment and entrance are usually free, so there really is no excuse for music lovers (or food lovers) not to check out this venue!
Find The Kazimier at the following address: 4-5 Woistenholme Sq. Liverpool, L1 4JJ.
The Cavern club is the iconic venue where the Beatles first gained recognition in the 1960s, and it is still going strong today, hosting a range of contemporary live music every day of the week. Fans are admitted from the afternoon until the evening, free of charge (except on Thursdays and Sundays which include a small fee). The venue is constituted of the Cavern Club (front stage), the Cavern Live Lounge (back stage), and the Cavern pub. Such artists that play here include various tribute bands (one of which tributes the Beatles), and JAR music, who present an eclectic range of unsigned bands. This historical venue has gone from showcasing 1950s jazz to 21st century indie music, and its high rate of success is illustrated by the certificate of excellence it won this year.
